Smoothie every day: The red, white and blue

It tastes like freedom.

Happy July! I’ve gone on another smoothie kick.

I’m going to try and ‘Smoothie every day’ this July.

Here’s what I blended up this morning:

The red, white and blue

Red is for- strawberries, 1.5 cups frozen
White (ish) is for – Bananas, 1
Blue is for blueberries, 1/2 cup frozen

2 cups of spinach

Coconut milk

Optional: Nutella or yogurt or peanut butter would each work well alone or in some tasty combo

I blend the spinach first in my blender with two cups of coconut milk. I tend to buy 1/2 gallons from Target.

I next add frozen fruit about 1/2 cup at a time, then the banana.

With smooth ingredients like banana and coconut, a smoothie can get a little too smooth…if that makes sense. Smoothies that are too smooth and not tart enough start tasting like Play-doh.

I toyed with the strawberry/blueberry combo and found this amount gave it balance. Laila complained, so I added Nutella to her smoothie and Eli’s smoothie.

It tasted like the Constitution of the United States of America.
