Grand Canyon bound: 4 family photo fail gifs

My fam has been on an OKC-Grand Canyon-and-back road trip these last few days. I love snappin my peeps.

I tried to control myself and strike that elusive balance between feelin’ the moment and documenting it, between taking selfies and death by selfie at the grand slam of all chasms.

BTW-at the Grand Canyon you soon realize photos are futile. That yawning fissure is too vast for adequate capture. So, for the best, you give up. At least, I did, eventually.

I hit the shutter 2,356 times per shot in the never-ending battle to get Eli to look at the camera. My threenager’s got his own agenda.

Here are just fails from the trip-in gif form!(I hope cuz I just figured out how to make these #old)

Mother-son rapid-fire selfie fails in Amarillo, Texas’ Cadillac Ranch:

Eli would rather kick dirt than look at those Texas caddies:

Followed by refusal to pose in Santa Fe (Eli’s to the right picking up rocks in the shadows)

Refusal to pose at the ‘Four Corners,’ a roadside stop in Navajo Nation where Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Utah meet.

Look at the camera, Eli! ELI! ELI! ELI!

I hit the shutter on my iPhone and hope for the best while my son practices civil disobedience.

I don’t blame ya little buddy. My snap-happy ways are a bit much.

‘cept I can’t help it ’cause ya’ll are soooo CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTE.

Off to bed for a rest before we return home!

  1. I’m afraid I’m like Eli. Don’t like my picture taken. It’s all good though, he’s still in the pic. My latest pics have been me hiding behind people and peeking over. I’m bad.
